Excerpt of the Week: Hellforged

Even though this month is (for me) the month of zombies, I decided to change it up just a little bit for this week’s excerpt of the week. Instead of pulling from one of my zombie apocalypse books, I decided that I would pull a snippet from my newest book release, Hellforged, which came out on November 26th! You can pick up your copy for $4.99 (or read for FREE with your Kindle Unlimited subscription), and the first book in the series, The Unnaturals, is still available at only $2.99 for a limited time!

Hit the link below to read a bit from the book and pick up yours today!

The scene for this week’s excerpt takes place in chapter six of Hellforged, in which one of the main characters, an on-the-run government agent named Riley Walker, is confronted by someone–or, rather, something–that very much wants her dead.

Excerpt of the Week: The Becoming: Ground Zero

It’s that time again! It’s time for another…

EXCERPT OF THE WEEK!

This week, I’m sharing with you guys a small snippet from the second book in my zombie series, The Becoming: Ground Zero. This scene is from chapter nineteen, in which the gang has infiltrated an abandoned, mostly looted Walmart in a rural area of Alabama in a hunt for supplies…and they end up getting a little more than they bargained for.

Hit the cut for the excerpt, and be sure to pick up your copy today!

A Decade of Zombies: A Retrospective of My Past Ten Years (Part One: 2009-2010)

Hello to December! My gosh, I can’t believe 2019 is already almost over! This year has just flown by, but it’s also been a really great year from a writing perspective, and I’ve honestly really been very proud of how much I’ve managed to accomplish this year.

Not even just this year, either. This decade has been a whirlwind of ups and downs, highs and lows, and I thought I’d take this month to look back at where this decade started and how far I’ve come and everything that has happened to me.

And yes, there will be zombies.

When I initially wrote this post, it was way too long, and while I enjoy writing novels, and I hope you enjoy reading them, I didn’t think you would want to read this as a novel, so I decided I’m going to make this a little mini-series of posts over the month of December, sort of a retrospective of the decade type thing. I hope you guys enjoy reading about my trials and tribulations (and maybe get a little insight as to why I didn’t really release very many books over the past decade)!

HELLFORGED: Available now!

Hellforged, the second book in The Unnaturals Series, is available now on Amazon for $4.99!

What is Hellforged about, you might ask?

Well, allow me to tell you!

Zachariah Lawrence wants out.
After working covertly for the United States government for nearly a decade, he’s had enough, a feeling compounded by the fact he was forcibly turned into a vampire during his last assignment for the secretive Unnaturals organization. And with his new apprentice Riley Walker on the run after being declared rogue by their superiors, Zachariah and his partner Ashton Miller race to help her as they realize she has something much more dangerous than vampires on her tail: demons.
But any plans Zachariah makes to ensure their safety quickly fall apart when one of them is possessed by a demonic force and turns against the others. As Zachariah reels from the betrayal and struggles to deal with a demon problem that is quickly spiraling out of control, he is forced to turn to the unlikeliest of sources for help: Agency Director Damon Hartley. And it’s through him that he discovers there’s something much bigger going on, something…biblical.

You can pick up your copy of Hellforged from Amazon today for only $4.99, or you can read for FREE if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription!

If you missed The Unnaturals, book one in the series, you can pick it up for $2.99 for a limited time!

This is a post about book piracy.

A couple of weeks or so ago, I went on a tangent on Twitter about book piracy. (What? Me go on a tangent on Twitter? NO WAY.) Let me tell you a little bit about what happened.

So the other week, I was watching videos on YouTube. I have a whole bunch of people I’ve followed in a variety of different fields that I find interesting, everything from humorous gamers to inspirational and motivational people to productivity hackers and Sims 4 players. It was on a video for a financial YouTuber, though, that I found myself getting supremely ticked off.

I won’t name names. But, you see, this particular YouTuber, who I really liked following, really enjoyed their videos, and had learned quite a bit from, was doing a video about saving money, as financial YouTubers often do. I was actually enjoying the video and gleaning a few bits of useful information from it, even though the general subject of the video didn’t quite apply to me and my life situation anymore, when the YouTuber in question reached one of his points of advice to college students about saving money on their college textbooks: he recommended that the students go on Google and search for “free” .pdf files of their college textbooks. Then, adding insult to injury to authors everywhere, he added, and I quote directly from his video, “Surprisingly, this is how you can get many books entirely for free, not just textbooks! So if there’s a book you’ve been planning to read and you just haven’t bought it yet, go search Google for it, and it might already be up there!”

Everyone who knows me knows exactly how much the muscles in my right cheek twitched when I heard that line.

Let me explain why.

Calling All Authors! Want to be Featured on My Blog? Plus: News on The Unnaturals and The Becoming Series!

I’m sure you guys have noticed quite an increase in activity around here lately. Needless to say, I’ve been a busy little bee over here, and that’s all working out to your benefit in the long term.

So what have I been up to?

Well, first, I had a great time doing a cover reveal for Hellforged, which is the second book in The Unnaturals Series. It will be coming out on November 26, 2019. I’m super excited about this one, guys. While the first book in the series essentially introduces everyone and gets everything established, this one gets dark and gritty and dangerous. But I suppose when you’re writing about demonic possession, that’s bound to happen!

Also going on lately is the price drop for The Unnaturals, the first book in the series! For a limited time, I have lowered the price of The Unnaturals to $2.99! You can check out more details on the book and grab your copy at the new price by clicking right here to visit its Amazon page. And, as always, if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, the book is FREE for you to read as part of your subscription!

The price changes apparently haven’t stopped there. I’ve also dropped the price of The Deadening: Collapse to $0.99 AND enrolled it in Kindle Unlimited (because somehow I missed adding it the first time…oops). I’m planning to release the next part of that one near the end of January, so go ahead and grab your copy and get caught up in preparation for the second part of the story!

In the meantime, I’ve been busy at work doing hardcore rewrites to The Becoming: Bloodlines, which will be the next book in the series! It will focus primarily on the adventures of Ethan, Kimberly, and Sadie after the events of The Becoming: Redemption, and so far, the book is proving to be quite a bit of fun. There have been some unexpected characters pop up, some blood, guts, and gore, and a mind-blowing discovery that completely changes the game of the series going forward. And I realize that that sounds like there’s going to be another book beyond Bloodlines and…well, there will be! So keep your eyes peeled for more information on The Becoming: Bloodlines, which I predict will be out before January 1st! Who is excited to read that one?!

Lastly, I have one more thing to remind you of. This year, I’m doing Christmas cards for friends, fellow authors, and readers! If you’d like a personalized, hand-signed Christmas card from me this year, check out this post for more details on how you can get on my Christmas list! Let’s spread some joy this holiday season!

And don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter before December 1st for access to an exclusive, newsletter-subscriber only short story! I’ll be sending one out at least every other month (and eventually every month), and I only send newsletters out a maximum of twice a month, so you don’t have to worry about me spamming your inbox.

Be sure to drop back by later this week, where I’ll be posting another excerpt in my new excerpt of the week feature on Saturdays! And if you’re an author who would like to have a new release of your own featured or would like to do a guest blog or something else fun over here, please feel free to contact me and let’s get something set up!
